CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs are increasing security at Wrigley Field by adding metal detectors at all the gates.
The metal detectors will be in addition to the bag checks that are already in place. The Cubs say there will be express lanes for fans who do not have bags or containers.
Unlike airport security, Cubs fans will be able to keep on their jackets, belts, wallets and shoes as they enter the metal detector. People will also be allowed to keep their coins and wallets in their pockets.
The metal detectors will be in place by Opening Night on Monday, April 11. Since large crowds are expected at Opening Night, all gates will be open by 4:35 p.m., two and a half hours before game time.
