WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Patriot Act is due to expire at midnight tonight, unless senators come up with an 11th hour deal.

The U.S. Senate is holding a rare Sunday special session.  But Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) says he’ll force the expiration of what he calls “the NSA’s illegal spy program”.

The Patriot Act authorizes the National Security Agency to collect telephone data and keep it for five years.
