CHICAGO — A high school on the city’s northwest side is the first in the district to vote to remove its Chicago Police Department officer.

The local school council at Northside College Preparatory High School made the decision Tuesday night, under authority given to Chicago Public Schools last year.

The decision comes one month before the district’s $33 million contract with Chicago police is set to end.
