A cancer patient, who inspired a campaign to collect jokes in the Chicago area, has died.

20-year-old Miles Austrevich passed away on December 23.

He had been battling a rare form of brain cancer for the past four years.

In order to lift his spirits, his father, and former comedian, Len formed the campaign, “Jokes4Miles.”

The campaign collected jokes online from 192 cities and 8 countries.

Cast members of Arrested Development, The Wire, 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live participated, as well as Hall-of-Fame athletes and celebrities like Bill Murray and Jay Leno.

The campaign now benefits children with cancer.

It doesn’t collect donations, only jokes.

Jokes4Miles recently moved into its own space, at 3660 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago.

A celebration of Miles’ life will take place there on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 7pm.

Visit www.Jokes4Miles.com for additional details and submitting your own jokes.
