Two Chicago firefighters and two Chicago police officers received the most prestigious awards given within their departments on Tuesday at City Hall.

The Carter Harrison Awards were presented to Police Officer Ruben A. Del Valle and Police Officer Jeffrey E. Friedlieb.

They were both shot during a narcotics stop. Friedlieb still has a bullet lodged in his head. Del Valle was hit in the head and an arm.

The Lambert Tree Awards were given to Lt. John Majka and Firefighter Anthony Licato.

They responded to a fire at 99th and Eggleston in October 2012. They rescued a 94 year-old woman who was bedridden and couldn’t escape from her burning and smoky building.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, and Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago were on-hand for the ceremony.
