2. Roeser’s Bakery: Roeser’s Bakery in Humboldt Park first opened its doors back in 1911 and while times have changed, the fresh pastries and cakes remained the same. 3. Doughs Guys Bakery: If you’re looking for the perfect combo of savory and sweet, Doughs Guys Bakery in Palos Heights has you covered. The maple bacon long john is a hand-rolled donut topped with maple-flavored icing and covered in freshly cooked, crispy bacon. 4. Epic Deli: “Epic” is the perfect word to describe the desserts at this Johnsburg mainstay. From the Messy Cake to the fried candy bars, you’d best make sure you save room for dessert. The star of the show though is the ever-changing menu of outrageous cheesecakes. Trust us, it’s worth the drive. Location: 3312 N. Chapel Hill Rd. in Johnsburg
5. Crosby’s Kitchen: Never heard of monkey bread? You’re about to have some serious knowledge dropped on you. How does butter, cinnamon sugar, caramel, and icing sound? It’s a hit in a Lakeview and a hit in our stomachs! Location: 3455 N. Southport Ave. in Lakeview

7. Hoosier Mama Pie Company: While it does do a killer savory pie, this Ukrainian Village call back is known for its Hoosier Sugar Cream. The official state pie of Indiana is a simple combo of sugar, cream, and vanilla and the ultimate caramel-lover’s dream. Location: 1618 W. Chicago Ave. in Ukrainian Village
8. Beaver’s Coffee and Donuts: If you crave sugar in the morning, Beaver’s Coffee and Donuts has some inventive ways for you to get your fix. In addition to the classic powdered donut, Beaver’s serves up a PB&J style and a s’mores donut topped with melted marshmallow, chocolate, and crushed graham crackers. 9. Swedish Bakery: Located in the heart of Chicago’s Swedish cultural epicenter, Andersonville, Swedish Bakery has been delighting sugar fanatics for nearly 100 years. 10. Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits: This food truck turned Logan Square storefront spreads the home-cooked love with seasonal sweet and savory pies. Bang Bang isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but rather do a few things really well, including the one that started it all: blueberry pie. Homemade crust, fresh blueberries, and just a bit of red wine make for an inventive and delicious take on the fruit pie. Location: 2051 N. California Ave. in Logan Square
