The western suburb of Elmhurst was quiet Thursday night after snow blanketed the area for nearly 48 hours.
Village plows removed the last of the snow while semis filled with snow emptied into the quarry. It took 6-8 semis today to get rid of all of it. Now the focus is on the cold as temperatures in the western suburbs dip below zero.
The harsh winter we’ve had already has put a huge dent in town’s public works budgets. In Glen Ellyn, they’ve already used up all their salt.
Friday’s commute could be dicey with all this snow on the ground coupled with the frigid air. Drivers beware.
