CHICAGO — The co-founder of one of Chicago’s most iconic restaurants has died.
Superdawg announced Wednesday that Florence “Flaurie” Berman passed away in her sleep Tuesday evening. She was 92.
Berman worked alongside her husband, Maurie Berman, as they built their business, the restaurant said.
Maurie Berman died in 2015.
The Bermans opened Superdawg at 6363 N. Milwaukee Ave. in 1948, according to the Chicago Tribune. The two iconic 12-foot-tall hotdogs on top of the restaurant are named “Maurie and Flaurie” after the founders.
Superdawg is asking people to share their memories of Flaurie Berman on their Twitter feed.
When you see the winking Superdawgs greeting you from our roof, remember that it was never just Maurie. It has always been Maurie and Flaurie.
To celebrate her life and the super place she held in all of our hearts, we encourage you to share your own memories and pictures below.

It is with profound sadness that we inform you that our matriarch, Florence Berman, passed away peacefully in her sleep last night. For seventy years, Flaurie worked alongside and supported her husband and best friend, Maurie Berman as they built a business and a family. pic.twitter.com/Zr5LQ8ZcqR
