MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A soldier listed as missing in action for 64 years will finally be laid to rest today.
The remains of Cpl. George Mason were returned to his hometown of Byhalia, Mississippi on Sunday.
Mason was 19-years old when he disappeared during the Korean War in 1951.
His family was told he ended up in a prisoner of war camp.
But when North Korea came out with a list of prisoners, George wasn’t on it.
The Mason family received a call last month from officials at Fort Knox saying George’s remains had been identified.
He will be buried next to his parents later today.
