NAPERVILLE, Ill. — In suburban Naperville, many people are quite conservative with their Halloween decorations — but not one house. Usually it’s decked out. Decorations everywhere. But not this year, after neighbors complained about the decorations.

But one young lady who loved the decorations wants to see them back.

The Naperville fifth-grader, Sara, is trying to bring back a well-known, well-liked Halloween house.

Some neighbors previously complained that too many people were showing up at the house, leaving their cars blocking driveways.  So the Asbury Homeowners Association tightened rules. They now limit a home’s decorations to 50 percent of the yard.

Young Sara is disappointed, but not deterred. She started an online petition collecting more 8,000 signatures and she wrote a letter explaining why she loved the decorations.

On Monday night, she showed up at the Homeowners Association meeting.

Sara left the meeting without word whether the association would reverse course.

Sara’s mom, though, could not be more proud.  Sara told WGN she’ll just do another petition next year.

WGN spoke to a homeowner entering Monday’s meeting who said the association probably won’t change the rule.
