A popular Evanston restaurant has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit.

The owner of Sarkis claims another restaurant by the name of ‘Sarks in the Park’ copied its concept and opened up in Lincoln Park.

Sarkis has been around since the mid 1960’s and is home to the Loretta sandwich.

The Lincoln Park location claims to also be the home of the Loretta.  That restaurant opened up a few years ago and the two have been battling over the similarities ever since.

When WGN contacted the owner of ‘Sarks in the Park’ she did not want to appear on camera but said there is a contract to use the Sarkis name.  They could not show WGN that contract.

The Lincoln Park location has made an adjustment.  It has now added a line on its website that says it is not affiliated with the Evanston location.

A judge will decide the future of the Lincoln Park location.
