BENSENVILLE, Ill. — There were more calls for the superintendent of Fenton schools to resign during Monday’s village council meeting in Bensenville.

This comes after a teacher was fired last week at a special school board meeting. He is accused of sexual misconduct with students.

WGN News is not naming him because he has not been criminally charged.

Before he was fired, he was on paid administrative leave for months.

Bensenville Village President Frank Desimone said he still hasn’t received a response to his letter calling on District 100 James Ongtengo to resign.

“The issue is not going to go away or be swept under the rug,” Desimone said. “I understand tensions in our community are high but we must remain calm.”

Calm isn’t how many in the community are feeling.

“A predator should not have been allowed to walk amongst us,” Bill said.

The teacher was fired following allegations of sexual misconduct with at least one student dating back over a decade.

A document circulated online purporting to be a leaked police report outlines concerns surrounding the teacher. WGN News has asked Bensenville police to confirm the authenticity of the report and hasn’t received a response.

WGN News filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get our own copy of the report.

It looks a little bit different than what is being shared online.

Folks at Monday’s meeting said getting rid of the teacher isn’t enough and Ongtengco has to go too, along with anyone else who knew about the allegations.

“I’ve never seen anything like it in 26 years in education, 21 as an admin,” Josh Dekins, the middle school principal and school district director of safety, said. “Never have I seen anything close to this.”

Dekins said it’s the only way healing can begin to happen.

“If he cares like he says he does, he knows he’s the impediment now to that process,” Dekins said.
